No DevOps without the Open Source Monitoring
10 years ago we started the #devopsdays. A global series of conferences that lead up to the global use of the term DevOps. DevOps was born on the crossroads of Open Source, Agile and Early Cloud adoption. Part of that Open Source influence was about the growing spike of Open Source Monitoring tools, from early days Icinga, Graphite, and many others to todays Icinga2, Prometheus and friends.
This talk will be about those influcences, about how Open Source Monitoring has been crucial for the #devops movement and how still today it is one of it’s thriving forces.
Kris Buytaert is a long time Linux and Open Source Consultant. He’s one of initiators of the devops movement, currently working for Inuits.
He spends most of his time working on bridging the gap between developers and operations with a strong focus on High Availability, Scalability , Virtualisation and Large Infrastructure Management projects hence trying to build infrastructures that can survive the 10th floor test, better known today as the cloud while actively promoting the DevOps idea!
